Influences of Lithium chloride and Chlorpromazine on the changes of Brain Norepinephrine content and Plasma Corticosterone level in Mice

Abstract
In this paper, the influence of lithium chloride and chlorpromazine on the changes of brain norepinephrine(NE) content, plasma corticosterone and blood sugar level in mice were studied.
The results obtained were summarized as follows;
1. Lithium (40mg/kg) increased the brain NE content after initial decrease but chlorpromazine (40mg/kg) did not affect. The increase of the brain NE content induced by lithium was decreased by chlorpromazine pretreatment.
2. Lithium and chlorpromazine did not affect the level of plasma corticosterone. But the plasma corticosterone level induced by lithium was increased by chlorpromazine pretreatment.
3. Lithium did not affect the blood sugar level but chlorpromazine increased. The blood sugar level induced by lithium was markedly increased by chlorpromazine pretreatment.
